Nine shift is the "futurist" concept discussed by Julie Coates and William Draves of River Falls Wisconsin.

The ideas of "9 shift" deals with the way we have spent our time in the industrial revolution versus the way we will tend to spend our time in the Internet Age. In the current model of our daily discretion, we have control over about 12 hours in our lives.

Of the 12 hours we do control, 75% or 9 hours will soon be spent completely different than they have been during the industrial revolution.

The changes from the industrial command and control hierarchy to the neural net or lateral "collaboration" based management will be as dramatic as the shift from the “one room school house” to full on school systems.
